The Position: Supporting Achievement in Waterbeach
We are partnering with a wonderful, supportive school in Waterbeach to find a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) This key position is perfect for someone who can expertly blend academic guidance with practical, on-the-spot support. You will work within the classroom and in small groups, focusing on helping pupils build resilience, develop effective study habits, and actively engage with the curriculum. Your presence will be vital in ensuring a positive and focused educational journey for students facing various challenges.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Provide essential academic intervention, assisting individual students with tasks, clarifying instructions, and reinforcing learning across different subjects.
- Work directly alongside teaching staff to implement differentiated learning strategies and prepare accessible classroom materials.
- Act as a positive behaviour coach, encouraging pupil engagement, managing low-level disruption, and helping students stay focused on their work.
- Observe and document student performance and emotional state, providing valuable feedback to inform planning and support strategies.
- Be a consistent, reliable presence, offering encouragement and helping students to manage their personal organisation and time at school.
Candidate Essentials
- Previous experience in an educational support role (such as a TA, LSA, or Mentor) is highly beneficial.
- An upbeat, patient, and highly adaptable personality, with a genuine passion for youth development.
- The ability to quickly establish rapport and maintain professional, trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or the willingness to immediately apply for one).
