Support young adults in overcoming barriers to learning and independence. We are currently recruiting for a specialist setting in Stockport that caters to students aged 19-25 with PMLD and complex needs. This environment focuses on life skills, sensory engagement, and community integration. We require a Learning Support Assistant who can see the individual potential in every student.

Responsibilities
You will work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring students receive consistent and empathetic support.
- Deliver one-to-one assistance to young adults (19-25), facilitating their engagement in a diverse curriculum that includes sensory sessions, hydrotherapy, and outdoor education.
- Implement individual learning plans and adapt resources to suit specific communication needs, such as non-verbal cues or visual aids.
- Manage challenging behaviour through positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques, maintaining a calm and safe atmosphere.
- Assist with physical requirements, including the use of mobility aids, hoisting, and manual handling to ensure student safety.
- Provide dignified support with personal care and feeding.
- Promote independence by encouraging students to complete tasks for themselves where possible.
Requirements
To succeed in this position, you must demonstrate a solid understanding of the challenges faced by students with severe learning disabilities.
- Minimum 6 months UK experience within a SEN school, college, or residential care setting.
- Practical experience supporting individuals with PMLD, SLD, Autism, or sensory impairments.
- Confidence in delivering personal care and using manual handling equipment (hoists/slings).
- A valid Team Teach certificate is highly desirable; however, experience with behaviour management strategies is essential.
- Resilience and the ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- A valid Enhanced Children and Adults DBS on the Update Service (or the willingness to apply for one immediately).
