The Role: Learning Support Assistant
This vital role involves providing direct, tailored support to students with various special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), both within the classroom and during dedicated intervention sessions. You will work under the guidance of the class teacher and the SENCo to foster independence, boost self-esteem, and ensure full access to the curriculum.

Core Roles and Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted one-to-one and small group interventions focused on literacy, numeracy, social communication, and emotional regulation.
- Support student access to the curriculum by clarifying instructions, breaking down tasks, and using specific resources tailored to their individual needs (e.g., visual aids, adapted materials).
- Assist in the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Support Plans, tracking progress against set targets.
- Facilitate effective communication and social interaction between supported students and their peers, promoting inclusion.
- Accompany and support students in accessing therapies, external agency appointments, or during movement between lessons.
- Provide detailed, objective feedback to teaching staff regarding student engagement, achievement, and any behavioral or emotional concerns observed.
- Help prepare and organise resources that meet the specific learning requirements of students with SEND.
- Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.
Who We Are Looking For
We need proactive, empathetic individuals who are ready to commit to making a genuine difference in a young person's life.
- Proven experience supporting children or young people with complex needs (e.g., Autism, Dyslexia, SEMH).
- High levels of literacy and numeracy (GCSE Maths and English Grade C/4 or equivalent).
- Exceptional patience, empathy, and resilience when faced with challenging behavior or emotional distress.
- The ability to be highly flexible and respond calmly and effectively to the changing needs of the school day.
- Excellent teamwork skills and the willingness to take direction from multiple teachers and specialists.
- A proactive approach to personal professional development related to SEND and inclusive practices.
