We are seeking a dedicated, caring, and enthusiastic Lower Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive school community in South Liverpool. Role Overview
As a Teaching Assistant in LKS2 (Years 3 and 4), you will work closely with the class teacher to support teaching and learning across the curriculum. You will play a vital role in helping pupils achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. The role involves working with whole classes, small groups, and on a 1:1 basis, supporting pupils with a range of learning needs.
Key Responsibilities
... - Support the class teacher in planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum
- Work with small groups of pupils to reinforce learning, support interventions, and encourage progress
- Provide 1:1 support for pupils who may require additional help, including those with SEND, EAL, or social and emotional needs
- Assist in creating a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment where all children feel valued and supported
- Observe and monitor pupils' progress, providing feedback to the teacher and contributing to assessment where appropriate
- Support classroom organisation, including preparing resources and maintaining an orderly learning space
- Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils develop independence, confidence, and resilience
- Supervise pupils during non-classroom times such as breaktimes, lunchtimes, and school trips when required
Person Specification
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience working with primary-aged children, ideally within LKS2
- Demonstrate a warm, patient, and nurturing approach to working with children
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required
- Show a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection (training can be provided)
- Be flexible, reliable, and committed to supporting children's learning and wellbeing
