Children's Social Worker - Long Term Child Protection Team

Job Overview:
As a Children's Social Worker in the Long Term Child Protection Team, you will be responsible for managing complex cases involving children who are at risk of harm. Your role will focus on safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children by assessing and intervening with families in need of support, managing child protection plans, and working within multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the best outcomes for children.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management:
Manage a caseload of children who are subject to child protection plans. This includes conducting risk assessments, evaluating the child's needs, and working with families to ensure the safety and well-being of the child.
Child Protection Plans:
Develop, implement, and monitor child protection plans for children and their families. Review and update these plans regularly based on assessments and the evolving needs of the child.

Provide direct social work interventions to children and families, including home visits, meetings, and follow-up support, ensuring that interventions are appropriate, timely, and in line with statutory guidelines.
Safeguarding:
Actively engage with other professionals and statutory bodies in safeguarding children, ensuring that children at risk are protected and their welfare needs are met.
Essential Requirements:
Qualifications:
A recognized social work qualification (e.g., BA in Social Work, MA in Social Work, or DipSW).
Registration with Social Work England (or equivalent regulatory body).
Current Enhanced DBS check.
Experience:
Significant experience working in children's services, particularly within child protection, safeguarding, and case management.
Experience in working with complex family dynamics and managing high-risk cases.
Skills:
Strong assessment, intervention, and report-writing skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships with children, families, and professionals.
Ability to manage a caseload effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of child protection procedures, relevant legislation (e.g., Children Act 1989), and best practices in safeguarding.
Understanding of child development and the impact of trauma on children.
