Contract Duration: 12 months
Rate: Up to £29 per hour
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
This role offers a distinct shift pattern designed to maximise daylight hours:
Monday - Wednesday: 06:00 - 14:30
Thursday: 06:00 - 14:00
Friday: 06:00 - 12:00
Leadership: Manage and develop a team of maintenance technicians, including building skills matrices and creating training plans to upskill members.
Strategy: Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to ensure equipment reliability.
Performance Management: Monitor maintenance KPIs (such as planned work order completion and overdue orders) and create action plans to address performance gaps.
Operational Excellence: Lead daily pulse meetings regarding Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost metrics.
Continuous Improvement: Implement Lean, 5S, and Six Sigma principles to eliminate non-value-added activities and reduce costs.
Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing standards, eliminating hazards, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate strong decision-making and critical thinking skills, evaluating risks and benefits to solve complex problems.
Essential Criteria:
Experience: Proven experience in maintenance planning and execution within a manufacturing environment.
Qualifications: Level 3 equivalent qualification in engineering (e.g., City & Guilds).
Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Digital Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Soft Skills: Strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to analyze data to make KPI-based decisions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and criticality analysis.
Experience developing training programs and competency frameworks.
High completion rates for planned maintenance work orders.
A reduction in overdue work orders and unplanned downtime.
Improved team competency, engagement, and safety metrics.
