Ford is investing £355 million to transform the Halewood site into Europe's first EV power unit manufacturing plant, producing 420,000 electric drive units per year.
This is a rare opportunity to be part of a historic shift in UK automotive manufacturing.
We are now seeking a Manufacturing Engineer (Assembly) to join our established engineering team and support the next chapter of Ford's electrification roadmap.
The Role
As a Manufacturing Engineer within the Assembly team, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving key production processes used in the manufacture of electric vehicle components.
You will lead and deliver engineering projects to world-class standards - ensuring safety, cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.
This is a hands-on, influential role working closely with production, maintenance, contractors, and senior engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a role model for Ford+ behaviours, promoting safety and a zero-accident culture
- Own and optimise multiple production processes across key assemblies
- Lead major capital equipment projects from concept to installation
- Drive cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and process innovation
- Ensure compliance with standards: GIS, TS16949, ISO14001, ISO18001
- Champion Lean, R&M, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage contractors, ensuring tight control of safety, time and cost
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, maintenance, suppliers & Trade Unions
- Support environmental compliance across the plant
What We're Looking For
✅ Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering - Essential
✅ Strong engineering experience in a manufacturing environment - Essential
✅ Excellent at problem-solving: 8D, 5 Why, Six Sigma
✅ Experience in project management & change management
✅ Proactive, resilient, analytical and able to lead teams
✅ Knowledge of:
- Lean manufacturing
- Ergonomics & manual handling
- SPC
- Data-driven decision making
- MS Office & project management tools
