Are you a dedicated Social Worker looking to make a meaningful impact within mental health services? We are seeking a qualified Mental Health Officer to join an integrated Health and Social Care Partnership team in the Helensburgh and Cowal area. This is a specialised role focused on upholding the rights and well-being of individuals under the Adults with Incapacity (AWI) legislation.
The Role
As a dedicated MHO, your primary focus will be managing duties related to AWI legislation to ensure service users receive the protection and support they require. You will work closely with health professionals, carers, and Named Persons to facilitate recovery-based outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
AWI Specialist Duties: Provide essential reports for AWI case conferences, Welfare Guardianship Orders (WGOs), and Intervention Orders.
Assessment & Coordination: Undertake and coordinate MHO assessments using single shared assessment tools in partnership with multi-agency colleagues.
Service User Support: Support individuals experiencing mental illness or incapacity while in hospital and arrange for continued community supervision post-discharge.
Strategic Contribution: Assist the Service Manager in implementing service plans and ensuring high-quality, best-value delivery to the community.
Performance & Recording: Maintain accurate records and participate in Performance Development Reviews to ensure the highest professional standards are met.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can set their own agenda and build strong networking relationships across statutory and voluntary agencies.
Essential Requirements:
Qualifications: Professional Social Work qualification (Diploma or Degree) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Mental Health Social Work (MHO Qualified).
Registration: Current registration with the SSSC as a Social Worker and a valid PVG.
Experience: Significant experience working with individuals facing severe mental health challenges.
Skills: Strong assessment and risk management skills, with a deep understanding of how mental health issues affect families.
Mobility: Ability to travel efficiently across various work locations within Argyll and Bute to meet operational needs.
Desirable Attributes:
Experience in hospital-based social work or working closely with NHS mental health services.
Experience working within small-town or rural community settings.
