Are you a Qualified Mental Health Officer looking for a unique professional challenge in a stunning location?
Randstad Care is currently recruiting for a dedicated Mental Health Officer (MHO) to join a tight-knit, multi-disciplinary team in the Shetland Islands. This is a rare "dual-role" opportunity that allows you to maintain your specialist MHO skills while staying connected to the broader community through a generic adult caseload.
Working in the Northern Isles isn't just a career move; it's a lifestyle shift. You will have the autonomy to practice social work the way it was intended-building long-term relationships and making a visible impact in a community-focused environment.
Your Responsibilities
... Statutory Duties: Carry out essential duties under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 and the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000.
Mental Health Tribunals: Act as a vital safeguard by applying for Compulsory Treatment Orders (CTOs) and preparing detailed social background reports.
Advocacy: Act as an independent voice, challenging medical/legal decisions to ensure the "least restrictive" option is always pursued.
Adult Support & Protection: Manage a generic adult caseload, including elderly care, physical disabilities, and transitions.
Collaborative Working: Partner closely with GPs, community nurses, and local police to provide holistic care in remote settings.

Experience: Proven experience in adult mental health and statutory report writing.
