Job description
- Deliver engaging and inspiring MFL lessons (French and/or Spanish) that empower students to communicate confidently in a second language.
- Develop and implement a knowledge-rich curriculum that focuses on grammatical mastery, vocabulary retention, and cultural appreciation.
- Collaborate effectively with a strong pastoral team to foster a culture of high expectations and global citizenship.
- Maintain accurate records, assessments, and progress reports to ensure every student is making rapid progress in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Contribute to the development of the MFL department, sharing best practices in phonics, retrieval practice, and target-language immersion.
- Create a calm, positive, and purposeful classroom environment by consistently applying the academy's "firm but fair" behavior policy.
- Utilize structured pedagogy and scaffolded support to build students' confidence, ensuring that "everyone can do languages."
- Participate in the academy's vibrant community life, including international trips, language clubs, and cultural celebration days.
Requirements
We're looking for you, if:- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification is held.
- A strong degree in a Modern Foreign Language (French or Spanish) is possessed.
- A passion for social mobility and a belief that linguistic ability is a key driver for future success.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambitious environment where high standards are the norm.
- A commitment to professional growth and a willingness to engage with research-informed language acquisition theories.
- Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to maintain a focused and respectful learning atmosphere.
- Experience or a desire to work in an inner-city setting to help close the educational attainment gap.
