Occupational Hygienist (Contract)

Are you an experienced Occupational Hygienist with a passion for ensuring the highest standards of worker health and safety on major infrastructure projects?
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Contract Occupational Hygienist to join the project team on Europe's largest construction site, Hinkley Point C. This is a crucial role within the health and safety team, responsible for protecting the workforce from a wide range of chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
You will play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for thousands of workers involved in the construction of this new nuclear power station.
The Role
As a Contract Occupational Hygienist, you will be responsible for proactively identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace health hazards. Your duties will include, but not be limited to:
Risk Assessment: Conducting comprehensive occupational hygiene risk assessments across the project site, with a specific focus on chemical, physical, and biological agents.
Monitoring & Measurement: Implementing and managing monitoring programs for dust, noise, vibration, and other airborne contaminants. This includes the use of specialist equipment to gather accurate data.
Controlling Exposures: Recommending and implementing control measures, including engineering controls, administrative controls, and the appropriate selection of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Report Writing: Preparing detailed technical reports and providing expert advice to project management and site teams on how to mitigate identified risks.
Health Surveillance: Working alongside the occupational health team to ensure appropriate health surveillance is in place for workers exposed to specific hazards.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all occupational hygiene activities and control measures comply with relevant UK health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
Training & Auditing: Delivering training and awareness sessions to the workforce on occupational hygiene topics and conducting regular site audits to ensure compliance.
Incident Investigation: Participating in investigations related to occupational health incidents and near-misses.
