The Role: Making a Difference in Mildenhall
We are urgently seeking a dedicated and fully Qualified Primary SEN Teacher (QTS) for a temporary or long-term contract position at a highly regarded specialist school in Mildenhall. This role requires a professional who can quickly integrate into the team and lead a primary class of children with complex SEN. You will be instrumental in ensuring continuity of high-quality education, focusing on therapeutic and differentiated teaching to achieve individual pupil goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Take immediate leadership of a primary class of pupils with complex SEN (e.g., ASD, PMLD, Severe Learning Difficulties), maintaining high standards of teaching and care.
- Plan and deliver a creative, multi-sensory curriculum that is highly differentiated to align with individual Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets.
- Provide effective direction and support to the assigned classroom Teaching Assistants (TAs), ensuring seamless implementation of support strategies.
- Accurately monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour, communicating effectively with parents and external professionals.
- Maintain a structured, positive, and safe learning environment, promoting the holistic development and well-being of every child.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is mandatory, with recent experience teaching at the primary level (EYFS/KS1/KS2).
- Proven experience working as a Class Teacher within a specialist SEN or highly inclusive setting is essential.
- Strong working knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice and therapeutic approaches relevant to primary-aged complex needs.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and resilience skills necessary for a successful contract role.
- A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one swiftly).
