Key Responsibilities:
As a Teaching Assistant in a specialist setting, your role will be instrumental in ensuring pupils feel safe, secure, and ready to learn. You will be responsible for:
Confidently implementing bespoke behaviour plans and using de-escalation techniques to manage challenging moments.
Providing consistent, one-on-one emotional support, acting as a trusted adult and helping pupils to develop self-regulation skills.
Working closely with the class teacher to adapt learning materials and provide tailored academic support that meets the complex needs of each pupil.
Using a variety of communication methods and cues to help pupils express themselves and build social skills.
Assisting with personal care duties as required, always ensuring the dignity, safety, and well-being of the pupils.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure a cohesive and supportive approach to pupil development.
Requirements:
To be successful in this unique and rewarding role, you must have:
Demonstrable experience working with children who have SEND/SEMH needs in a school or specialist setting.
An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
Specific training in areas such as Team Teach, MAPA, or Thrive is highly desirable.
A compassionate, highly resilient, and patient nature is essential.
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils and a commitment to making a positive impact.
