Roles & Responsibilities
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in the classroom ecosystem. Your daily duties will include:
Classroom Support: Assisting the Class Teacher in the delivery of engaging lessons and preparing learning resources.
Targeted Interventions: Working with students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to boost attainment in core subjects like Literacy and Numeracy.
SEN Support: Providing tailored support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to ensure inclusivity and engagement.
Behaviour Management: encouraging positive behaviour and social skills in line with the school's behaviour policy.
Assessment: helping to record and monitor student progress, providing feedback to the teacher and parents where appropriate.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must meet the following expectations set by the school:
Qualifications: A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) is highly desirable.
Experience: Previous experience working within a primary school setting is essential.
Knowledge: A solid understanding of the National Curriculum and safeguarding procedures.
Soft Skills: You must be patient, resilient, and possess excellent communication skills to build rapport with children and staff.
Compliance: You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
