Roles & Responsibilities
The successful Teaching Assistant will be instrumental in supporting pupil progress and teacher efficacy:
Dedicated Support: Provide targeted assistance to pupils across the Key Stage 1 and early Key Stage 2 age range, focusing on literacy and numeracy.
Interventions: Deliver tailored intervention programmes, such as specific reading schemes or phonic catch-up sessions, accurately recording outcomes.
Pupil Monitoring: Monitor and formally feedback student progress and engagement levels to the Class Teacher, highlighting any concerns swiftly.
Resource Management: Assist with the creation, preparation, and efficient organisation of classroom resources and learning environments.
Supervision: Oversee pupils during non-contact time, including lunch breaks and outdoor activities, ensuring safety protocols are adhered to.
Welfare: Provide general pastoral and personal care support to pupils when necessary, adhering strictly to school policies and procedures.
Requirements
The school has high expectations for the successful candidate:
Qualification: NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or an equivalent qualification) is highly desired.
Experience: A minimum of one year of recent, demonstrable experience in a UK primary school environment.
Knowledge Base: Sound working knowledge of the Key Stage 1 and early Key Stage 2 curriculum, including systematic synthetic phonics.
Behaviour Management: Proven ability to proactively and positively manage challenging behaviour and support vulnerable pupils.
Professional Skills: Excellent organisational skills, punctuality, and the ability to manage time effectively within a fast-paced environment.
Compliance: Commitment to confidentiality and a thorough understanding of school safeguarding responsibilities.
