Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a background in complex engine systems? We are seeking two high-caliber Product Design Engineering Specialists to join a world-class engineering team in Darlington. You will lead the design and development of critical components for major projects, ensuring innovation meets performance.
The Role
In this position, you will apply specialised engineering principles to create optimised design concepts and mechanical specifications. You will be responsible for balancing cost, weight, and performance with manufacturing and serviceability requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Design & Development: Own engineering assignments for products, parts, and complex systems from concept to implementation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Effectively communicate design capabilities to meet requirements across disciplines, including resolving product issues and assessing competitive design concepts.
- Optimisation: Develop specifications that prioritise durability, reliability, and assembly efficiency.
- Stakeholder Management: Work independently with internal teams and external suppliers to bring components to fruition.
Technical Requirements & Competencies
We are looking for candidates who can hit the ground running with the following profile:
- Design Expertise: Proven ownership of engine system or component development.
- CAD Proficiency: Advanced 3D CAD Modelling skills, specifically with Creo.
- Systems Knowledge: Experience with Windchill PLM is highly preferred.
- Analysis: Strong background in engine component or system analysis.
- Industry Experience: Recent experience with Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) design is a significant advantage, though not a strict requirement.
- Communication: Ability to work independently with suppliers and manufacturing partners to develop technical solutions.
