Project Planner (Civils)

Role Overview:
A leading civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Freelance Project Planner to join their team on a significant civils project in Portsmouth. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring project programs to ensure successful delivery within time and budget constraints. A strong background in civil engineering project delivery is essential to effectively integrate with the site team and understand the technical complexities of the works.
The role involves developing detailed project programs using Primavera P6 or similar planning software, collaborating with project stakeholders to define scope and milestones, and monitoring progress to identify and mitigate potential delays. The planner will also analyze critical path activities, prepare progress reports, and evaluate subcontractor programs.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a project planning role on civil engineering projects, with proven experience in delivering projects within sectors such as Highways, Marine works, Earthworks, Drainage, or Coastal defense.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 or similar project planning software.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and resource management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Valid CSCS card.
