Randstad are working with a well-established property refurbishment company based in the North East looking for a new AQS or QS. Work will involve working with a wide range of contracts for local authorities, prestigious heritage organisations, and private clients. Work spans everything from small residential homes to large-scale commercial and public buildings, including intricate and historically significant listed properties.

The Role:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be a crucial member of our project delivery team, responsible for managing all commercial and financial aspects of our refurbishment projects from inception to completion. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Cost Management: Preparing detailed cost plans, estimates, and budgets for various projects, ensuring value for money and adherence to financial targets.
- Tendering & Procurement: Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, and managing the tendering process.
- Contract Administration: Administering contracts, managing variations, and valuing completed work for interim payments and final accounts.
- Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and developing responses to commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Financial Reporting: Producing regular and accurate financial reports, forecasts, and cost analyses to inform stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Compliance: Ensuring all commercial activities comply with relevant legal, contractual, and quality standards.
- Value Engineering: Proactively seeking opportunities for cost savings and value enhancement without compromising quality.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience as a Assistant/ Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the property refurbishment or fit-out sector.
- A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
- Strong understanding of various forms of contract (e.g., JCT).
- Experience in running own projects.
- Knowledge of heritage building practices and conservation principles would be a distinct advantage for working on listed buildings.
