Randstad are looking for proactive Quality Engineer with Highways experience to join a highly reputable highways subcontractor in North London near Walthamstow.
This is an contract role expected to last till August - September
The role would suit a proactive candidate who understands quality isn't about ticking boxes and wants to raise standards, behaviours and accountability across the team. You will need to be comfortable challenging poor practice, coaching engineers to raise NCRs and embedding continuous improvement without creating friction.
Role Overview
Own site quality and culture. Drive proactive compliance by managing the ITP register and leading the NCR process to ensure satisfactory delivery first time.
Responsibilities
Quality Management: Shape ITPs and oversee the ITR process.
NCR Leadership: Identify issues early, coach teams, and ensure robust close-out.
Technical Control: Manage materials testing and maintain the temporary works register in support of the TWC.
Handover & Systems: Oversee documentation from day one and use digital systems to track performance trends.
Culture: Champion a "Zero Defects" mindset and act as the link between design, engineering, and delivery.
Collaboration
Internal: Work with Engineers, Project Managers, TWCs, and Document Controllers.
External: Engage with clients, designers, and supply chain partners to resolve issues collaboratively.
Requirements
Experience: Background as a Quality Engineer in civil engineering or infrastructure.
Systems Knowledge: Proficient in QA systems, ITPs, ITRs, and NCR management.
Technical Skills: Experience with materials testing and temporary works processes.
Qualifications: HNC, HND, or Degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
Attributes: Commercially aware, analytical, and capable of challenging poor practice constructively.
