Are you a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor ready to make a significant impact on critical national infrastructure? We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team, playing a vital role on the Scottish Power Framework. This is your opportunity to drive the financial success of groundbreaking energy projects that are expanding and upgrading Scotland's electricity transmission and distribution networks.
From new overhead lines and substations to complex subsea cables, you will be at the forefront of diverse schemes, working hand-in-hand with project managers, engineers, and contractors. Your expertise will ensure every project is delivered efficiently, on budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Your Core Responsibilities Will Include:
Cost Leadership: Developing precise cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts across all project phases.
Contractual Mastery: Administering various contracts (NEC, JCT), expertly managing drafting, negotiations, variations, claims, and final accounts.
Strategic Procurement: Contributing to procurement strategies, tender preparation, and detailed analysis.
Proactive Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and effectively mitigating commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Value Optimisation: Championing value engineering initiatives to achieve cost savings and enhance project value without compromising quality.
Rigorous Reporting: Producing comprehensive financial reports, progress valuations, and cost-value reconciliations.
Subcontractor Oversight: Managing and valuing subcontractor works to ensure strict contractual compliance.
Collaborative Engagement: Fostering strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
Ensuring Compliance: Upholding all health and safety regulations, building regulations, and company policies.
What We're Looking For in You:
Experience: Proven Quantity Surveying experience, with a strong preference for a background in civils, utilities, or energy infrastructure. Direct experience with the Scottish Power Framework or similar utility frameworks is a significant advantage.
Qualifications: A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. RICS accreditation (or working towards it) is highly desirable.
Commercial Acumen: An in-depth understanding of contract law, procurement processes, and advanced cost control methodologies.
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in relevant software, including MS Excel, cost management tools, and project management platforms.
Analytical Prowess: Exceptional numerical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, coupled with an unwavering attention to detail.
Communication Excellence: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to negotiate and build robust professional relationships.
Team Collaboration: A true team player, adept at working within multidisciplinary environments and effectively managing multiple priorities.
Self-Starter: A proactive individual who can work independently and make well-informed decisions.
Mobility: A full UK driving licence is essential due to required site travel.
