Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team in the Teesside/North Yorkshire region. The Quantity Surveyor will play a critical role in ensuring the successful financial management of construction projects, maintaining cost control, and maximising profitability while adhering to company standards and industry regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for residential construction projects, including materials, labour, and overhead expenses.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets throughout the construction lifecycle, tracking costs, analysing variances, and implementing cost-saving measures when necessary.
- Procurement: Source and procure materials and subcontractor services at competitive prices, ensuring quality and adherence to project specifications.
- Contract Administration: Administer contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants, negotiating terms and conditions to achieve favourable outcomes for the company.
- Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization without compromising quality or safety standards.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks and financial exposures related to project costs, contractual agreements, and regulatory compliance.
- Cost Reporting: Prepare regular reports on project costs, cash flow projections, and financial performance, providing timely updates to stakeholders and management.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the construction process.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, building codes, health and safety regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in quantity surveying and construction management, actively seeking opportunities for professional development and process improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the residential construction industry, preferably with a national house builder.
- Thorough understanding of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost control techniques.
- Proficiency in quantity take-off, cost estimating software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
