We are looking for a proactive QTS Science Teacher for a temporary or contract position in Wigan. You will be joining a department that values practical, hands-on learning and is dedicated to raising aspirations across the borough.
Whether you are preparing Year 11s for their final GCSE papers or introducing Year 7s to the laboratory for the first time, your expertise will be vital in maintaining a high standard of education and a culture of inquiry.
Your Key Responsibilities
Dynamic Teaching: Deliver engaging lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics for KS3 and KS4, ensuring the curriculum is accessible to all.
Effective Assessment: Track student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback to help them master complex scientific concepts.
Laboratory Leadership: Maintain a safe and inspiring lab environment, strictly following health and safety (CLEAPSS) protocols during practical demonstrations.
Team Synergy: Work closely with the science technicians and the wider faculty to ensure lesson continuity and shared success.
Positive Presence: Uphold the school's behavior and safeguarding policies, creating a respectful and focused learning atmosphere for all Wigan students.
What We Are Looking For
QTS Status: Mandatory, accompanied by a degree in a Science subject.
Secondary Experience: Proven success teaching Science at KS3 and KS4 (GCSE) levels.
Adaptability: The ability to join a new school and immediately build rapport with students and staff.
Resilience: A professional who can handle the fast-paced nature of a busy secondary environment with a "can-do" attitude.
Clearance: A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to apply for one).
