Randstad has an opportunity available for a Science Technician (Chemistry) to join the team at Belfast Metropolitan College. The ideal candidate will provide an efficient, effective and safe technical service to students and lecturers across the Titanic Quarter Campus to support education and training within all curriculum areas.

Requirements
- Hold a relevant Level 4 qualification (or higher) with one year's laboratory experience, or a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in a science-related discipline with at least three years' relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of basic scientific principles and laboratory practices.
- Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety procedures
- Ability to undertake advanced skills such as HPLC and gel electrophoresis.
- Candidates will be subject to enhanced vetting / compliance checks including an Enhanced Access NI check due to the nature of this work, this may include a Barred List check for both Children & Vulnerable Adults (depending on the role).
Responsibilities
- Prepare and make available equipment, materials and tools for lessons and assessments.
- Demonstrate techniques and provide assistance and supervision to staff and students during practical sessions.
- Maintain health and safety requirements in the laboratory, including COSHH regulations and carrying out safety checks.
- Clean and maintain equipment and technical areas, including handling breakages, spillages and carrying out simple repairs.
- Manage the ordering, receipt, storage and accurate stock control of materials and consumables.
- Safely store and dispose of waste, chemicals and equipment in accordance with college procedures.
- Maintain accurate records for the movement or loan of equipment and complete inventory and asset registers.
