The Position: Supporting Scientific Excellence
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Science Technician to provide comprehensive technical support to our dedicated team of Science Teachers. The successful candidate will ensure that all practical lessons run smoothly, safely, and effectively. This vital role involves preparing apparatus, managing resources, and maintaining a high standard of safety across the laboratories.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare, set up, and test apparatus and resources for practical lessons and demonstrations across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Assist teaching staff during practical classes, providing technical guidance to students as required.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment, apparatus, and instruments, ensuring they are always in good working order.
- Manage and maintain stock levels of chemicals, glassware, consumables, and teaching materials, placing orders when necessary.
- Ensure strict adherence to Health and Safety regulations (including COSHH) in all laboratories and prep rooms, disposing of waste safely.
- Provide specialist technical support for specific examinations and internal assessments.
- Organise and store equipment and resources efficiently in the preparation rooms.
What We Are Looking For
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., A-Levels, BTEC, or Degree) in a core Science subject (Chemistry, Biology, or Physics).
- Previous experience working as a Technician in a school or educational laboratory setting is highly desirable.
- Strong practical skills and a good working knowledge of standard laboratory procedures and equipment.
- Excellent understanding of Health and Safety protocols relevant to a school science laboratory environment.
- High degree of organisation, accuracy, and attention to detail in all tasks.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a busy team, managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Good IT skills for stock management and basic record-keeping.
