We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Worker to join our dedicated SCP Team in Middlesbrough. You will play a crucial role in working with children and families where children are in need of protection or require support due to disability. You will conduct comprehensive assessments, develop and implement care plans, and work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve positive outcomes for children and families. You will be expected to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families, utilising a range of assessment tools and methodologies. This involves working directly with families, schools, and other relevant agencies to gather information and make informed judgements.
• Develop detailed and well-supported care plans that clearly articulate the child's or family's needs and risks, and set out strategies to address those needs and mitigate risks.
• Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to case discussions and decision-making. This requires strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Liaise effectively with other professionals, including social workers, health visitors, educational psychologists, and police, sharing assessment findings and contributing to collaborative working.
• Participate in child protection conferences and other multi-agency meetings.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, adhering to all relevant legislation and professional guidelines. This involves meticulous record-keeping, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations. You will be expected to use the Council's electronic case management system.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the team's services. This involves participating in regular supervision and contributing to team meetings and training.
• Participate in regular supervision and training opportunities.
• Comply with all relevant policies and procedures of Middlesbrough Council.
• Work within the Public Law Outline (PLO) process and care proceedings where necessary.

Essential Criteria:

• A recognised Social Work qualification.
• Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
• Significant post-qualifying experience in children's social work.
• Excellent assessment, analytical, and report writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience working within a safeguarding and care planning team.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and policy frameworks.
• Experience with case management software.
