Job Summary:
As a Social Worker within the Safeguarding Children Partnership (SCP) Team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality social work services to children, young people, and families in need of protection or support. You will assess risk, develop safeguarding plans, and engage in multi-agency collaboration to ensure the best outcomes for children.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake Section 47 investigations and assessments in line with Children Act 1989.
Develop and implement Child in Need and Child Protection plans.
Conduct statutory visits, reviews, and direct work with children and families.
Prepare and present reports to court and attend court proceedings as required.
Work closely with police, education, health, and other partners to safeguard children.
Maintain accurate case records on the council's electronic case management system.
Participate in strategy discussions and multi-agency meetings.
Act in accordance with Social Work England's professional standards and the local authority's policies.
Requirements:
Qualifications: Degree in Social Work (BA or MA) or equivalent.
Registration: Social Work England registration.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of post-qualifying experience in children's safeguarding.
Skills: Strong communication, risk assessment, and report-writing skills. Ability to manage complex caseloads and make sound decisions under pressure.
Desirable:
Experience working within a Local Authority SCP or Child Protection Team.
Knowledge of Middlesbrough's local safeguarding protocols and procedures.
Experience using case management systems like LiquidLogic.
