Role & Responsibilities
As a SEN Science Teacher, you will design and deliver engaging, sensory-friendly science lessons tailored to the diverse learning needs of students with special educational needs (SEN). You'll work collaboratively with support staff, adapting the mainstream curriculum to meet individual requirements, and create a positive classroom environment that fosters growth and confidence. You will also be responsible for assessing student progress, maintaining accurate records, and providing occasional personal care as needed.
Main tasks include
...- Design and deliver engaging, sensory-friendly science lessons.
- Adapt the science curriculum to meet the specific needs of SEN students.
- Collaborate with support staff to create individualized learning plans.
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment.
- Utilise varied teaching methods and resources.
- Regularly assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies.
- Maintain accurate student progress and participation records.
- Provide occasional personal care as required.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Current Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Minimum 2 years' experience teaching science to SEN students in UK schools.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
- Passion for inclusive education and commitment to student success.
- Ability to work standard school hours.
- Experience with Autism, ADHD, MLD, SLD, and other additional needs is highly desirable.
