We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled SEN TA to join our supportive team in Leeds. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum, develop their social and emotional skills, and thrive within the school setting.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience working as an SEN TA in UK schools is essential.
- A strong understanding of the diverse needs of children with Autism, including communication, social interaction, and sensory processing differences.
- Familiarity with various strategies and interventions used to support children(e.g., PECS, TEACCH, Makaton, Social Stories).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to inclusion.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A relevant Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable.
Key Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Providing tailored support to individual pupils or small groups with SEN, as directed by the class teacher and SENCo.
- Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and supporting the achievement of pupil-specific targets.
- Adapting learning materials and activities to meet the needs of pupils with Autism.
- Promoting positive behaviour and managing challenging behaviours effectively.
- Supporting pupils with their communication and social skills development.
- Assisting with personal care needs where required (dependent on pupil needs).
- Liaising with parents/carers and other professionals as appropriate.
- Contributing to the assessment and monitoring of pupil progress.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation.
