Randstad Education is seeking compassionate and skilled Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants for flexible supply roles in specialist and mainstream schools across Leeds. This is a vital role where you can provide targeted support to students, helping them to overcome barriers and thrive in their educational environment.
The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in providing tailored support to students with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. Working on a 1:1 or small group basis, you will be key to helping students integrate, learn, and achieve their personal goals.
Your Responsibilities will include:
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Providing dedicated support to students with specific learning, behavioural, or physical needs.
Fostering an inclusive, supportive, and safe learning environment.
Using positive de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
Monitoring, recording, and reporting on student progress and engagement.
What We Are Looking For:
Prior experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is essential.
A genuine understanding of and empathy for the challenges faced by students with SEND.
A patient, resilient, and nurturing personality.
Excellent communication skills for collaborating with staff, parents, and external agencies.
Any additional training, such as Team Teach or Makaton, is highly advantageous.
An enhanced DBS check on the update service or a willingness to apply for one.
