Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant

Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with additional needs, ensuring they have access to a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to provide tailored support for students with special educational needs.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of differentiated lessons and activities to meet the individual needs of students.
- Provide one-to-one support for students with specific learning difficulties or disabilities, adapting resources and activities as necessary.
- Support students with social and emotional difficulties, helping them to develop coping strategies and build self-confidence.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents/carers, contributing to the assessment and review process.
- Collaborate with external professionals, such as speech and language therapists or educational psychologists, to support student development.
- Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their well-being and fostering a sense of belonging within the school community.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is desirable.
- Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, SEN diploma) are advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents/carers.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the learning and development of students with additional needs.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school environment.
