Key Responsibilities
As an SEN/SEMH Teacher, your role is crucial to the success and well-being of the pupils. You will be responsible for:
Designing and delivering a curriculum that is specifically adapted to meet the diverse academic and emotional needs of pupils with SEN and SEMH challenges.
Using effective de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations and maintain a calm and focused learning environment.
Providing consistent emotional support to pupils, acting as a trusted adult they can rely on for guidance and stability.
Working hand-in-hand with teaching assistants and external professionals to provide holistic support for pupils.
Meticulously tracking and reporting on pupils' progress against their individualised education plans.
Requirements
To succeed in this position, you must possess:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
A proven background in teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
A naturally patient and resilient approach.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships.
Specific training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS is highly desirable.
