Bury St Edmunds
Are you an educator who measures success by the strength of a breakthrough, not just the score on a test?
Can you create a classroom culture where every barrier is seen as a puzzle to be solved and every student is given the tools to find their own voice?
We are searching for a Qualified SEN Teacher to join a dedicated specialist school in Bury St Edmunds. This role is designed for a teacher who thrives in a small-class environment and possesses the creative spark needed to make the curriculum accessible for students with Autism (ASC), SEMH, and Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD). In this setting, your primary objective is to foster an environment of safety, curiosity, and measurable personal growth.
Your Strategic Impact
As a Lead Teacher in this Bury St Edmunds provision, you will be the architect of student progress:
- Bespoke Lesson Crafting: Design and deliver highly differentiated lessons that blend academic objectives with functional life skills and sensory engagement.
- Lead the Support Team: Manage and mentor a team of Teaching Assistants, ensuring they are effectively deployed to provide high-impact 1:1 and small-group support.
- Communication Mastery: Integrate Total Communication approaches-including Makaton, PECS, and visual prompts-to ensure every student can participate and express their choices.
- Targeted Goal Setting: Take ownership of EHCP reviews and individual learning plans, setting realistic yet ambitious "small-step" targets that reflect the whole child.
- Behavioural Stewardship: Implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans, maintaining a low-arousal and predictable classroom where students feel regulated and ready to learn.
- Collaboration: Work closely with parents, SENCOs, and external therapists (OT/SLT) to create a unified, holistic support network for your pupils.
What You'll Bring
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): This is essential. We welcome applications from experienced SEN specialists or mainstream teachers with a proven passion for inclusion.
- Adaptive Pedagogy: Familiarity with specialist frameworks such as Attention Autism, SCERTS, or TEACCH.
- Emotional Intelligence: The ability to remain calm, reflective, and resilient, serving as a co-regulator for students in moments of distress.
- Commitment: A desire to become a stable, long-term pillar within the school community.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one).
Why Join the Randstad Team?
- Highly Competitive Pay: Weekly pay ranging from £150 - £220 per day (PAYE).
- Professional Development: Access to free, senior-level training in Team Teach, Autism Awareness, and Safeguarding.

- Stability: A full-time, long-term placement in a supportive, well-resourced specialist environment.
