Bury St Edmunds
Are you an educator who believes that a student's potential is a journey of small, brilliant steps rather than a fixed destination?
Do you have the creative vision to adapt a curriculum for neurodiverse learners and the emotional intelligence to lead a classroom where every "behavior" is understood as a form of communication?
We are seeking a Qualified SEN Teacher to join a highly regarded specialist school in Bury St Edmunds. This is a full-time, long-term role for a practitioner who thrives in a "high-care, high-aspiration" environment. You will be responsible for a small class of students with complex needs, including Autism (ASC) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), ensuring their educational experience is as unique as they are.
Your Strategic Impact: Responsibilities
- Adaptive Curriculum Design: Create and deliver bespoke lesson plans that integrate sensory play, functional life skills, and academic targets tailored to diverse cognitive profiles.
- Total Communication Leadership: Model and implement communication strategies such as Makaton, PECS, and visual timetables to ensure every student-regardless of verbal ability-has a voice.
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS): Maintain a low-arousal, structured environment, utilizing Zones of Regulation to help students identify their feelings and stay ready to learn.
- EHCP Milestone Ownership: Lead the assessment and review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), setting meaningful "small-step" targets that reflect the holistic growth of the child.
- Team Mentorship: Direct and empower a team of specialised Teaching Assistants, ensuring they are effectively deployed to support 1:1 interventions and group regulation.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): This is mandatory. We welcome applications from experienced SEN specialists or mainstream teachers with a proven heart for inclusion.
- Specialist Pedagogy: Familiarity with evidence-based frameworks such as Attention Autism (Bucket Time), TEACCH, or SCERTS.
- Resilient Calm: The ability to remain a grounded, co-regulating influence for students during periods of emotional dysregulation or distress.
- Collaborative Spirit: A genuine drive to work closely with parents, the SENCO, and external therapists (OT/SLT) to create a 360-degree support network.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one via Randstad).
Why Lead with Randstad?
- Elite Daily Rates: £150 - £220 per day (PAYE), reflecting your expertise and QTS status.
- Consistent Stability: Secure a full-time, long-term placement in a supportive Bury St Edmunds school that values staff well-being.
- Specialist CPD: Access free, senior-level training in Team Teach, Autism Level 2, and Advanced Safeguarding.
- Personalized Support: Work with a dedicated consultant (Neeraj) who specializes in the Suffolk SEN sector.
- Referral Bonus: Earn £300 for every qualified teacher you successfully refer to the Randstad family!
