We are seeking an inspiring and creative Qualified Teacher (QTS) to join our partner "Outstanding" SEN School in Bury St Edmunds on a part-time basis. This school supports pupils with complex needs, including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and sensory processing challenges.
Your Strategic Impact: Responsibilities
- Bespoke Curriculum Delivery: Adapt the National Curriculum into personalised, sensory-rich learning journeys that align with individual EHCP outcomes.
- Communication Advocacy: Foster a communication-rich classroom using Makaton, PECS, and visual aids to ensure every student has a voice.
- Positive Co-Regulation: Maintain a low-arousal, highly structured environment, utilising Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to help students feel safe and ready to learn.
- Collaborative Teaching: Work closely with your job-share partner (if applicable) and a team of specialised TAs to ensure seamless consistency for the pupils.
- Holistic Assessment: Track and celebrate the "small-step" functional, social, and academic progress of your pupils using specialist assessment tools.
- Therapeutic Integration: Work alongside onsite therapists to embed Speech and Language or Occupational Therapy goals into the daily classroom routine.

- SEN Pedagogy: Familiarity with frameworks such as Attention Autism, TEACCH, or Sensory Stories is highly desirable.
- Flexible Professionalism: The ability to work a part-time schedule (days to be discussed) while maintaining high standards of planning and handovers.
- Resilient Empathy: A calm, steady influence, particularly during periods of student dysregulation or challenging behaviour.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one through Randstad).
