An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Qualified SEN Teacher to join our partner Special Educational Needs (SEN) School in Cambridge. We are seeking a talented and inspirational educator to lead a classroom and deliver highly bespoke, engaging lessons to students with a variety of complex needs. This is a chance to play a central role in a school that prides itself on innovation, inclusion, and the holistic development of its pupils. Please note: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is a mandatory requirement for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Bespoke Curriculum: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons that cater to the diverse and complex learning profiles of students with SEN.
- EHCP Leadership: Assess and monitor student progress against individual learning goals, playing a lead role in the implementation and review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Classroom Management: Create a stimulating, safe, and nurturing learning environment that promotes independence, emotional well-being, and a love for discovery.
- Team Empowerment: Lead and collaborate effectively with a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants to ensure a unified and supportive approach to every child's growth.
- Partnership Building: Maintain regular and professional communication with parents, carers, and external specialists to foster a strong support network for each student.
- Professional Contribution: Contribute to the wider school culture through active participation in staff development, curriculum planning, and community events.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential for this position.
- Proven experience teaching students with a range of needs, such as Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), or SEMH.
- A deep understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and a track record of successfully managing EHCP targets.
- The ability to adapt teaching styles and communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS) to meet individual student requirements.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire both students and colleagues.
- A resilient and positive mindset with a solution-focused approach to challenging situations.
- An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
