A brilliant opportunity has arisen for a Qualified KS3 SEN Teacher to join our partner specialist school in Foxton. This is a Full-Time long-term role starting soon, focused on delivering a bespoke, transition-focused curriculum to students with Autism (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and sensory needs. We are looking for a teacher who can bridge the gap between primary-style nurturing and secondary-level ambition. Please note: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
- Tailored KS3 Delivery: Plan and teach a highly differentiated curriculum that makes core subjects accessible and functional for students with diverse SEN profiles.
- Adolescent Support: Navigate the social and emotional complexities of the KS3 age group, fostering self-esteem and emotional regulation during these vital years.
- Outcome Ownership: Lead the implementation of EHCP targets, ensuring every lesson is a step toward greater independence and personal achievement.
- Classroom Command: Mentor and lead a team of specialist Teaching Assistants to provide a high-ratio, supportive learning environment.
- Sensory & Visual Learning: Utilise communication tools and sensory strategies to reduce anxiety and maximize engagement in the classroom.
- Collaborative Reporting: Work closely with the SENCO, parents, and external therapists to ensure a 360-degree approach to student development.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS is essential.
- Proven experience teaching students with SEN, ideally within the KS3 age range.
- A deep understanding of the developmental needs of young people with Autism and learning disabilities.
- Resilience, patience, and a sense of humor-essential for the KS3 environment!
- Strong classroom leadership skills and the ability to manage a multidisciplinary team.
- An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
