Cambridge
Are you ready to be the Teacher who sees past a diagnosis to the unique potential of every child in Cambridge?
Do you have the pedagogical creativity to turn a standard lesson into a multi-sensory experience and the resilience to be the calm, stabilising presence a neurodiverse classroom needs?
We are looking for a passionate SEN Teacher to join a forward-thinking specialist school in Cambridge. This is a full-time, long-term role where you will lead a small class of students with a variety of complex needs, including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and communication barriers. In this setting, your success is measured not by standardised tests, but by the breakthroughs in confidence and independence your students achieve.
Your Responsibilities
- Bespoke Lesson Delivery: Adapt the curriculum into highly visual and tactile activities that cater to diverse cognitive levels and sensory profiles.
- Communication Leadership: Foster a "Total Communication" environment, utilising Makaton, PECS, and high-tech AAC devices to ensure every student can express their needs and choices.
- Emotional Regulation Mastery: Implement Zones of Regulation and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to help students identify their feelings and utilise self-soothing tools.
- EHCP Management: Lead the assessment and tracking of Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets, ensuring that even the smallest steps of progress are recorded and celebrated.
- Team Mentorship: Direct and empower a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants, ensuring they are effectively deployed to facilitate 1:1 support and small-group interventions.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs), OTs, and parents to provide a holistic, 360-degree support network for your pupils.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): This is mandatory. We welcome applications from experienced SEN specialists or mainstream teachers with a profound commitment to inclusion.
- Specialist Pedagogy: Familiarity with frameworks such as Attention Autism (Bucket Time), SCERTS, or TEACCH.
- Unshakeable Patience: You understand that progress in specialist education is a marathon, not a sprint, and you are dedicated to the long-term journey.
- Empathetic Leadership: The ability to lead your classroom team with kindness, clarity, and a shared vision for student success.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one via Randstad).
Why Lead with Randstad?
- Competitive Daily Rates: £150 - £220 per day (PAYE), reflecting your expertise and QTS status.
- Local Consistency: Secure a stable, full-time role in a reputable Cambridge school with a supportive leadership team.
- Premier CPD: Access free, certified training in Team Teach, Autism Awareness, and Advanced Safeguarding.
- Dedicated Consultant: Work with Neeraj, your personal consultant who specializes in the Cambridge SEN market and will support you at every stage.
- Referral Bonus: Earn a £300 voucher for every qualified teacher you successfully refer to the Randstad family!
