The Role:
A fantastic opportunity is available for a proactive, empathetic, and committed QTS SEN Teacher to join the dedicated team at a highly regarded SEN School in Ely on a temporary contract or supply basis (with the possibility of extension or permanent placement).
This role is vital to maintaining the quality and continuity of student education. You will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering outstanding, highly individualised lessons across a varied age and ability range, often focusing on life skills, functional literacy/numeracy, and personal development goals (EHCPs). Your efforts will directly contribute to a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating learning experience that promotes independence, communication, and high standards of well-being for all students.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, highly differentiated lessons tailored to the specific needs outlined in individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress against their individual targets, providing clear and constructive feedback.
- Cultivate a safe, supportive, and well-managed classroom environment, maintaining excellent standards of behaviour and a positive learning culture through consistent strategies.
- Collaborate effectively with Teaching Assistants (TAs), support staff, therapists, and parents/carers regarding student progress and holistic development.
- Contribute positively to the day-to-day rhythm of the school, adhering to all safeguarding and school policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Full Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, with specific training or significant experience in an SEN setting.
- Proven experience teaching students with a range of Special Educational Needs (e.g., Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Complex Needs) is required.
- Strong adaptability, resilience, and the ability to quickly build rapport with students who may present challenging behaviours or complex communication needs.
- An empathetic classroom presence with outstanding knowledge of various behaviour management and communication strategies (e.g., PECS, Makaton).
- A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one promptly).
