Meldreth
Are you an educator who believes that every breakthrough-no matter how small-is a milestone worth celebrating?
Do you have the professional heart and the technical skill to support young people with complex physical and neurological needs in a setting that priorities dignity, care, and bespoke learning?
We are seeking a dedicated Qualified SEN Teacher to join a wonderful SEN School in Meldreth. This role is perfectly suited for a practitioner who excels in a multidisciplinary environment, working with students who have profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), complex health needs, and physical disabilities. Your role extends far beyond the traditional classroom; you are a facilitator of communication, independence, and quality of life.
Your Responsibilities
- Bespoke Curriculum Design: Craft and deliver sensory-based, highly individualised learning programs that cater to the unique cognitive and physical abilities of each student.
- Communication Mastery: Integrate a range of assistive technologies and "Total Communication" strategies-including EyeGaze, Makaton, and tactile cues-to ensure every student can express themselves.
- Holistic Progress Tracking: Utilise "small-steps" assessment frameworks to monitor development, aligning every activity with the student's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
- Collaborative Care: Lead a classroom team of specialist TAs and work alongside onsite therapists and nurses to ensure that educational goals are seamlessly integrated with care and therapy needs.
- Positive Regulation: Maintain a highly structured, low-arousal environment that supports students' emotional wellbeing and sensory regulation.
- Family Partnership: Build strong, trust-based relationships with parents and guardians, providing regular updates and celebrating every student's personal victories.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): This is mandatory. We welcome applications from experienced SEN teachers or mainstream teachers with a profound commitment to complex needs education.
- Specialist Sensitivity: A deep understanding of-or a strong desire to learn-sensory integration, PECS, and the use of assistive learning technologies.
- Resilient Compassion: The ability to remain calm, steady, and nurturing in an environment that requires high levels of emotional and professional resilience.
- Team Leadership: A collaborative spirit, capable of managing a classroom team and contributing to a wider multidisciplinary faculty.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one through Randstad).
