The Opportunity: Leading Learning in Stowmarket
We are searching for a highly skilled and compassionate Qualified SEN Teacher (QTS) to take a full-time position at a dedicated special school in Stowmarket. This role is ideal for an experienced educator who is confident in leading a classroom, managing support staff, and creating a bespoke, pupil-centred learning experience. You will play a vital role in ensuring every pupil, regardless of their barrier to learning, is empowered to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver creative and highly differentiated lessons for a class of students with a diverse range of complex SEN (e.g., Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Severe Learning Difficulties).
- Take the lead in your classroom, effectively managing and mentoring your team of Teaching Assistants (TAs) to ensure support is delivered consistently and effectively.
- Oversee all aspects of pupil assessment, accurately tracking progress against Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes and contributing detailed reports for annual reviews.
- Embed therapeutic strategies into daily classroom practice, working collaboratively with in-house therapists and external specialists.
- Maintain rigorous safeguarding standards and foster a warm, structured, and emotionally secure learning environment.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is mandatory.
- Substantial experience working as a Class Teacher within a specialist school or resource provision for pupils with significant SEN.
- Expert knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice and best-practice principles for teaching pupils with complex needs.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a team of support staff effectively.
- An inherently calm, reflective, and resourceful approach to teaching and classroom management.
- A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
