We are seeking a Qualified SEN Teacher to join a dedicated specialist school in Stowmarket. This is a full-time role designed for a resilient and creative leader who can navigate the complexities of a diverse classroom-supporting students with Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD).
Your Role as a Specialist Educator
- Personalised Pedagogy: Design and implement highly differentiated lesson plans that cater to a wide spectrum of cognitive and sensory needs.
- Multidisciplinary Leadership: Manage a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants to ensure that 1:1 interventions are consistent and effective.
- EHCP Management: Take the lead on Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets, ensuring every student has a clear, achievable roadmap to success.
- Communication Enrichment: Integrate alternative communication strategies (such as Makaton or PECS) into the daily curriculum to empower non-verbal and pre-verbal learners.
- Environment Mastery: Create a "low-arousal" but high-engagement learning space that minimises anxiety and maximises focus.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): This is a mandatory requirement for this role.
- Proven SEN Experience: A strong background in working with students who have complex learning needs or sensory processing disorders.
- Collaborative Mindset: The ability to work closely with parents, healthcare professionals, and therapists to provide a 360-degree support system.
- Adaptive Skills: Proficiency in using positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
