Stowmarket
Are you an educator who measures success by breakthroughs in communication and independence rather than just test scores?
Do you have the pedagogical expertise to lead a classroom where the curriculum is tailored to the child, and the heart to build a sanctuary for students who see the world differently?
We are seeking a Qualified SEN Teacher to lead a vibrant classroom in a specialised school in Stowmarket. This is a full-time role for a practitioner who views "barriers to learning" as puzzles to be solved through creativity, patience, and evidence-based strategies. You will be teaching a small cohort of students with complex needs, primarily Autism (ASC) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), ensuring every child has the scaffolding they need to reach their individual potential.
Your Responsibilities
- Adaptive Curriculum Delivery: Design and implement highly bespoke lesson plans that integrate sensory exploration and functional life skills with core academic objectives.
- Communication Mastery: Model and facilitate a "Total Communication" approach, utilising Makaton, PECS, and visual aids to ensure every student can participate and be heard.
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS): Maintain a low-arousal, structured classroom environment using Zones of Regulation to help students identify their emotional states and utilise self-soothing tools.
- EHCP Milestone Leadership: Take ownership of tracking and reviewing Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets, documenting the "small-step" progress that defines specialist education.
- Team Empowerment: Direct and mentor a team of Teaching Assistants, ensuring they are effectively deployed to support 1:1 interventions and group regulation.
- Holistic Collaboration: Work closely with parents, the SENCO, and external therapists to provide a unified support network for every pupil.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): This is mandatory. We welcome applications from experienced SEN specialists or mainstream teachers with a strong interest in transitioning to specialist education.
- Inclusive Pedagogy: Familiarity with evidence-based frameworks such as Attention Autism (Bucket Time), TEACCH, or SCERTS.
- Resilient Calm: The ability to remain a grounded, co-regulating influence for students during moments of dysregulation or sensory distress.
- Compassionate Leadership: A genuine drive to mentor your support staff and advocate for the dignity and rights of your students.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one through Randstad).
Why Lead with Randstad?
- Elite Daily Rates: £150 - £220 per day (PAYE), reflecting your expertise and QTS status.
- Professional Growth: Access to free, senior-level CPD in Team Teach, Advanced Safeguarding, and SEN Leadership.
- Stability: A full-time, long-term placement in a supportive Stowmarket school that values staff well-being.
- Personalized Support: Work with a dedicated consultant (Neeraj) who specialises in the Suffolk SEN market.
- Referral Bonus: Earn £300 for every qualified teacher you successfully refer to the Randstad family!
