The Opportunity: Leading Specialist Learning in Thetford
We are actively recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Qualified SEN Teacher (QTS) to join a committed special educational needs school in Thetford. This is a full-time position for an educator who is passionate about taking ownership of a class, driving forward holistic development, and managing a supportive team. You will be instrumental in creating a structured, therapeutic, and academically stimulating environment for pupils with complex needs, ensuring they achieve their personal, social, and academic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a class of pupils with a range of SEN, including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and profound needs.
- Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate highly differentiated curriculum content that aligns with individual EHCP targets and statutory requirements.
- Effectively manage and deploy the team of Teaching Assistants (TAs) allocated to your class, providing clear direction and professional guidance.
- Conduct thorough formative and summative assessments, tracking and reporting on pupil progress with clarity and insight to parents and relevant stakeholders.
- Embed multi-disciplinary strategies into daily routines, working closely with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and behaviour specialists.
- Uphold rigorous safeguarding practices and maintain a nurturing, communicative, and stimulating classroom atmosphere.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is mandatory.
- Proven, substantive experience working as a Class Teacher within a specialist SEN or highly inclusive educational setting.
- Excellent working knowledge of the latest SEN Code of Practice and best practices for creating accessible learning environments.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate, lead, and develop a classroom support team.
- A naturally adaptable, calm, and highly reflective approach to teaching and classroom leadership.
- A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
