Thetford
Are you an educator who believes that every small step is a giant leap for a child with complex needs?
Do you have the resilience to lead a classroom where the "traditional" rulebook is replaced by empathy, compassion, and bespoke learning pathways?
We are seeking a Qualified SEN Teacher to join an inspiring specialist school in Thetford. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for a teacher who thrives on the challenge of supporting students with Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and complex communication needs. In this role, you aren't just a teacher; you are a champion for children who see the world differently.
Your Strategic Impact
- Adaptive Curriculum Leadership: Design and deliver a "living" curriculum that pivots based on the sensory and cognitive needs of your students each day.
- Team Management: Direct and mentor a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants, ensuring that every 1:1 intervention is precise and purposeful.
- EHCP Architecture: Take ownership of Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes, turning long-term goals into successful daily classroom wins.
- Communication Mastery: Implement a range of inclusive communication tools, including Makaton, PECS, and high-tech AAC devices to give every student a voice.
- Holistic Assessment: Move beyond standard testing to use progress trackers that capture social, emotional, and physical development milestones.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): This is an essential requirement for this specialist position.
- SEN Specialism: Proven experience teaching children with complex needs, particularly those on the Autism spectrum.
- Resilience & Calm: A proven ability to use positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies in high-pressure moments.
- Collaborative Spirit: The ability to work seamlessly with Speech and Language Therapists, OTs, and parents.
- Vetting: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
