Thetford
Are you an educator who believes that every child's voice-no matter how it is expressed-deserves to be heard and understood?
Can you dismantle a traditional "one-size-fits-all" lesson and rebuild it into something tactile, visual, and profoundly accessible for students with complex needs?
We are searching for a dedicated Qualified SEN Teacher to lead a specialist classroom in Thetford. This role is designed for a practitioner who excels in high-support environments, specifically working with pupils diagnosed with Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and sensory processing needs. In this setting, your primary objective is to create a "safe harbor" for learning where students feel regulated enough to take risks and achieve their personal best.
Your Responsibilities
- Curriculum Innovation: Design and deliver a "living curriculum" that priorities functional life skills and sensory exploration alongside core academic targets.
- Communication Mastery: Integrate a "Total Communication" approach across all lessons, utilising Makaton, PECS, and visual aids to ensure every student can interact with their environment.
- Targeted Progress Mapping: Take ownership of student assessments, focusing on "small-step" trackers that capture the non-linear growth typical in specialist education.
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS): Maintain a low-arousal, highly structured classroom environment that utilises Zones of Regulation to help students manage their emotional states.
- Team Leadership: Manage and empower a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants, ensuring they are expertly deployed to support individual EHCP goals.
- Collaborative Advocacy: Work in partnership with parents, educational psychologists, and therapists to ensure a holistic support system for every child.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): This is mandatory. We welcome applications from seasoned SEN specialists or mainstream teachers with a proven commitment to inclusion.
- Specialist Pedagogy: Familiarity with evidence-based frameworks such as Attention Autism (Bucket Time), TEACCH, or Sensory Stories.
- Emotional Resilience: The ability to remain a calm, co-regulating presence during periods of student distress or behavioral challenge.
- Compassionate Leadership: A genuine drive to mentor your support staff and advocate for the dignity of your students.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one through Randstad).
Why Lead with Randstad?
- Elite Daily Rates: £150 - £220 per day (PAYE), reflecting your expertise and QTS status.
- Professional Growth: Access to free, senior-level CPD in Team Teach, Advanced Safeguarding, and SEN Leadership.
- Stability: A full-time, long-term placement in a supportive school that values staff well-being.
- Direct Support: Work with a dedicated consultant (Neeraj) who specialises in the Norfolk and Suffolk SEN markets.
- Referral Scheme: Earn £300 for every qualified teacher or leader you refer to our network.
