The Role: Vital Support in Newmarket
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) / Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join an established partner SEN school in Newmarket. We are seeking a proactive and caring individual to provide crucial support to students with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, and associated communication or sensory challenges. This is your chance to be the stable, encouraging presence that helps students access their education and develop vital independence.
Key Responsibilities
...- Provide effective one-to-one and small group support, adapting your approach to help students engage with differentiated lesson plans across the curriculum.
- Assist the class teacher in preparing resources, managing the learning environment, and ensuring the classroom is inclusive and accessible.
- Support the implementation of personalised strategies for behaviour management and communication, helping students to regulate their emotions and interact positively.
- Contribute to pupils' holistic development by encouraging social skills, independence, and participation in activities.
- Maintain clear communication with the teaching team regarding pupil progress, well-being, and daily observations.
- Assist with pupils' personal care needs where necessary, ensuring tasks are carried out with the utmost respect and sensitivity.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a role supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs is highly desirable.
- A calm, compassionate, and resilient temperament, with a strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare.
- The ability to build trusting, professional relationships with students who may find communication or social interaction difficult.
- Excellent teamwork and observational skills.
- A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one promptly).
