Randstad Education is partnering with specialist schools in the Bolton area to recruit a dedicated and confident SEN Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible. This role is full-time and term-time only, with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.
The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll be an energetic force, empowering students with a wide range of special educational needs both in and out of the classroom. Drive their curriculum engagement, spark their personal and academic development, and provide vital support to ensure a fantastic learning experience!

Key Responsibilities:
- Working extensively with pupils on a one-to-one or very small group basis
- Adapting lesson content and resources significantly to match widely varying academic levels and learning styles.
- Finding creative and engaging ways to motivate pupils who may be highly disengaged or resistant to learning.
- Linking learning to pupil's interests where possible.
- Working very closely with the class teacher, SENCo, other TAs, and behaviour specialists to plan and review strategies.
- Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection, given the vulnerability of many pupils in PRUs.

- Building Trust and Rapport: A non-judgmental approach is essential for establishing strong relationships with pupils facing diverse challenges.
- Communication: Effective communication skills are vital for successful collaboration with staff, pupils, and external stakeholders.
- Patience and Perseverance: The capacity to remain patient and persistent is key when supporting pupils who may require more time to learn and develop.
- Positive and Optimistic Attitude: Maintaining a positive and encouraging outlook to motivate students facing learning or behavioural obstacles.
Adaptability and Resilience:
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Willingness and ability to tailor support strategies to meet the unique and evolving needs of each student.
- Resilience and Calmness Under Pressure: The ability to remain calm and composed when managing challenging behaviours and high-pressure situations.
Experience and Expertise:
- Experience in SEN Support: Demonstrated experience in providing support to students with Special Educational Needs within a school setting
- Behaviour Management Experience: Proven ability to implement effective behaviour management techniques to foster a secure and supportive learning environment for all students.
Essential Requirements:
- A minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or comparable experience)
- Minimum 3 months recent TA experience in a UK school (referenced)
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain)
- Full CV with employment and education history
- Legal right to work.
