An exciting opportunity is available for a proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partner Special Educational Needs (SEN) School in Bury St Edmunds. We are seeking a dedicated and resilient individual to provide essential support to students with a range of complex needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. This is a chance to make a profound and lasting impact on young lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of special educational needs, including autism spectrum disorder, learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons.
- Help create a stimulating and supportive classroom environment that encourages independence and a love for learning.
- Support the physical, emotional, and social development of students, ensuring their well-being and safety at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive and supportive approach to student development.
- Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and classroom resources.
Requirements
- Proven experience supporting students with a range of special educational needs.
- A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN and a patient, empathetic approach.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
