We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partner SEN school in Bury St Edmunds. We're looking for a resilient and dedicated individual to provide crucial support to students with a range of complex needs, empowering them to access the curriculum and achieve their goals. Your Role and Responsibilities
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be a key part of the school's support system, working closely with the class teacher to create an inclusive and effective learning experience. Your daily tasks will include:
- Personalised Support: Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with a variety of needs, including autism, learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. You will help adapt materials and use different teaching methods to ensure every student can participate.
- Classroom Collaboration: Assisting the class teacher in preparing and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons. You'll help manage classroom resources and create a stimulating environment that promotes independence and a love for learning.
- Holistic Care: Supporting the social, emotional, and physical development of students, ensuring their well-being and safety at all times. You will be a trusted figure, helping students with social skills and self-esteem.
- Teamwork: Working effectively with teachers, parents, and other specialists to provide a cohesive and supportive approach to each student's development. You will be a vital link, sharing insights and working together to achieve the best outcomes.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience supporting students with special educational needs.
- A strong understanding of the unique challenges students with SEN face, combined with a patient and empathetic approach.
- The ability to build strong, positive relationships with both students and colleagues.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one).
