We are seeking a proactive and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partner SEN school in Bury St Edmunds. This is a fantastic opportunity for a resilient individual to provide crucial support to students with diverse and complex needs. Your role will be to empower students to access their education and reach their full potential.
Your Role
- Provide tailored support: Work with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups to help them overcome challenges related to learning difficulties, autism spectrum disorder, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Support the teaching team: Collaborate with the class teacher to deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that meet the needs of all students.
- Foster a positive learning environment: Help create a classroom where students feel safe, valued, and encouraged to be independent.
- Ensure well-being: Look after the physical, emotional, and social well-being of the students, making sure they are safe and secure at all times.
- Work as a team: Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a unified and supportive approach to each child's development.
- Assist with resources: Help prepare teaching materials and classroom resources to support learning activities.
What We're Looking For
- Experience: Proven experience in a similar role, supporting students with a range of special educational needs.
- Empathy: A strong understanding of the challenges students with SEN face, and a patient, compassionate approach.
- Collaboration: Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Building relationships: The ability to form strong, positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- DBS: A Child DBS on the update service, or a willingness to obtain one.
